WORK METHODOLOGY / PROCEDURE INTERNAL PAINTING;

 

Surface Preparation

 

Ø  For working at height, fixed and movable scaffolding would be erected as per area requirements.

Ø  Scaffolding when erected shall be inspected with Safety officer prior to usage.

Ø  Hardware materials which are already fixed and not to be painted shall be removed.

Ø  Removal if not possible, it shall be covered/protected appropriately before surface preparation and painting will commence.

Ø  Al items which are not part of structure will be removed and repaired before painting.

Ø  Clean and prepare plaster surfaces to be painted.

Ø  All major surface cracks of gypsum surface shall be filled up with acrylic putty before start of putty or painting activities.

Ø  Efflorescence, chalk, dust, dirt, grease and oils shall be removed by using of sanding or scraping.

Ø  The surface of the area to be painted would be prepared by removing loose particles, blemishes and deleterious materials by way of sanding or scraping.

Ø  All clearance will be taken from both civil & MEP team before initiating the activities. So that, any other activities should not be executed after painting.

 

Application of Putty / Primer

 

Ø  Proper scraping with sand paper no. 60 shall be done on gypsum surface.

Ø  One coat of primer shall be applied before 24hrs of application of putty by using of roller brush.

Ø  Primer shall not be applied on gypsum surface in case of using  Acrylic putty 2X or equivalent.

Ø  Putty shall be applied at least after 6 to 8hrs of application of primer in case of primer is required or as per manufacturer guideline.

Ø  Approved Water based Ready to use acrylic putty shall be applied uniformly by using of flat bladed plate or large putty knives with one in each hand.

Ø  Applied putty shall be allowed to dry at least for 16 to 24 hrs.  or as per technical data sheet.

Ø  After drying of first coat of putty, surface shall be smoothened by using sand paper (sand paper no shall be as per paint manufacture’s guideline).

Ø  Then Second coat putty shall be applied after smoothening of first coat of putty like the first coat.

Ø  Once the second coat is fully applied and has dried thoroughly, the entire wall shall be smoothening with fine sand paper no 220/320 before painting or as per manufacturer guideline.

Ø   After rubbing with sand paper, surface putty dust shall be wiped off with a cloth or sponge.

Ø  Cleaning of MEP items, Door and other items shall be done.

 

Application of Paint                                                                                                

 

Ø  The surface to be painted shall be free from any loose paint, dust and oil & grease.

Ø  Any visible surface cracks shall be repaired prior to start of painting.

Ø  Approved paint types shall be used. It may be OBD or acrylic or semi acrylic type.

Ø  Then two coats of final paint shall be applied as per the approved RAL colour code.

Ø  Paint shall be applied by using of roller brush.

Ø  Applied first coat paint shall be allowed to dry at least for 3 to 4 hrs or as per technical data sheet.

Ø  After drying of first coat of paint Second coat paint shall be applied.

Ø  For removal of any surface stain or wipe cleaning shall be done minimum after 15 days of paint application.

Ø  Second / Final coat paint shall be applied after completion of all activities.

Ø  Cleaning of MEP items, Door and other items shall be done.
