WORK METHODOLOGY / PROCEDURE OF RUBBLE SOLING
AND P.C.C.
Preparation of Surface:
Ø
Anti-termite shall be completed for the area of soling is to be
executed.
Ø
The area of soling is to be done must be cleared of all loose materials, leveled,
patterned and compacted before laying
rubble soling.
Ø
Cable or pipe trenches if needed shall be got done before the soling is started
or the area to be marked.
Procedure of Rubble Soling
Ø
The
rubble stone generally used are of best variety of black trap / granite /
basalt or other variety of stone available locally.
Ø
The
stone should be hard, durable free from defects and of required size as
required at site or as per specification.
Ø
Over the ready surface, the stone shall be set as closely as attainable
and well packed and firmly set.
Ø
The stones shall be of full height and may be arranged therefore on have
their bases of the biggest space resting on the sub-grade.
Ø
Soling shall be arranged in one layer of 230mm depth or specified
thickness of soling with a tolerance of 25mm.
Ø
After packing the stones properly in position, the interstices between
them shall be carefully packed with quarry spoils or stone chips to get a
compacted surface.
Ø
After packing the stones properly in position, the interstices between
them should be carefully filled with quarry spoils or stone chips of larger
size possible to obtain a bard, compact surface.
Ø
Spreading of loose spoils or stone chips is prohibited.
Ø
The entire surface should be examined for any protrusions and the same
should be knocked off by a hammer and all interstices should be filled with
approved murrum. Excess murrum if any over the surfaces should be removed.
Ø
The surfaces should then be watered and consolidated with mechanical or
sufficiently heavy wooden tampers and log-rammers.
Ø
After compaction, give the required slope or level and dense sub-base
and the surface should present clean look.
Ø
Adequate care should be taken by the contractor while laying and
compacting the rubble soling to see that concrete surfaces in contact with
soling are not damaged.
Placing and Compaction of PCC on Soling Area:
Ø Soling top level shall be checked before PCC.
Ø Form work shall be done for PCC as per
specified dimensions.
Ø Foreign or loose earth from concreting area
shall be cleaned.
Ø Water sprinkling over the bed of soling shall
be done before staring of PCC.
Ø
Level pillars shall be made of fresh concrete in the area at suitable
intervals but not more than 2m c/c both ways.
Ø
Concrete shall be placed gently (don’t through) from one side.
Ø
Use wooden rammer shall be used for compaction and finishing of PCC or
Vibratior to be used if thickness of PCC is more than 100mm.
Ø
Surface of PCC roughen for joining of new and old concrete.
Curing of PCC:
After 24 hours of laying PCC, curing
shall be done by flooding with water or by covering with moist hessian cloths at
least for 7 days.
Thank You..
